All By Hand's days are numbered. Actually, (counting today) 11 days left. We are sad to bring you this news, however we're looking forward to possible ventures in the future. This all being said we would like to cordially invite you to our CLOSING PARTY!!!

When? Saturday May 29th!
Time? 9:30-7 (normal Mall hours)
Where? (for real? are you actually asking this?) ALL BY HAND! soon to no longer be located in the shops at Liberty Place.
Why? Because it's your last chance to support the great local artist's featured in the store!

We are planning this big party (complete with snacks and *gasp* beer and wine... what's the mall going to do? kick us out?) to celebrate all All By Hand has been! We're definitely going to miss you all and this funny place. Many of the amazing artist's will be here for the party to tell you all about their great work!! (They're practically the closest thing you'll get to meeting a real life celebrity!) Please stop by and send All By Hand out with a bang.

All this being said, Abby and I really want to take the time out to thank all of you who have been here for us! We could never have done this with out you. You're all so amazing. We'd also like to send some particular shout outs to Jon, Jenn, Bridgett, Andrea, and Ted. If it wasn't for all your great work in the store we wouldn't have been open as long as we were. Also Adele Smith, Beverly Winter, Mr & Mrs Flanigan, Mr & Mrs Lose, Arnold, and Darryl if it wasn't for all your financial advice and sometimes help we really would have never opened! Thank you to all the Messages staff and Watch Co. staff for all the love and support you've shown us during these last few months! (We love you Kira, Roxy, Craig, & Maddie!) A BIG thank you (thank you, thank you) to every artist who has every contributed anything to All By Hand. You are all so amazing in your craft and we love all the personality you've brought to the store! Finally a huge thanks Karen Pollard and Jill Scarlett for all the support and faith you've had in us. We really (I mean really) would not be here if it wasn't for you. You have no idea how meaningful you have been to Abby and I.

Check it out! We've got two brand spanking new artist at All By Hand!

First up is Paul Maraldo of Road Soaps! Road soaps are hand made vegan soaps that come nicely packed in cassette tape boxes! These are some cool soaps. They smell great too!

Next up is Valerie Velvet of Amour Iconic! Val makes great deconstructed rosary necklaces using found metals and her own cast charms. We've got both necklaces and charms for sale here! Check them out! They're great. Who wouldn't want a charm dedicated to the patron saint of gambling?

Hey Everyone! We've got some new handmade wares for a great cause. All proceeds from the sales of these beaded bracelets and bookmarks goes to CASA to continue their great work in our community.

CASA, Court Appointed Special Advocates, provides screened, trained, and supervised volunteers who advocate for safe, permanent, and nurturing homes for abused and neglected children under the protection of the family court in Philadelphia. Learn more here, at their website. They will also be hosting an event in the rotunda of the Shops at Liberty Place from May 15-22. Come out and show your support for a great cause, and the children of our communities.

Meet our new employees!

All By Hand is so excited to have actually hired some help over here at the shop. Woo hoo! And yes this does mean that we've filled all available positions, sorry. Believe us, it was a tough decision to make. Everyone who applied is so great!

However, we couldn't be happier with who we've hired. We're loving our new employees and we think you should love them too! In case you can't make it into the shop right away (I mean really why aren't you running here right now?), you can meet them on here first!

First up is Jennifer McGowan! She's an amazing metals and jewelry artist. Check her work out here, and at All By Hand! Jenn's a ton of fun and has such a great personality. Be sure to come in and visit her on Fridays!

Next up is Jon Vozzo! Jon is an awesome graphic designer. Check out his work here! Jon will be here on Wednesdays and Thursdays, so be sure to get in to meet him and listen to jams like Saves the Day!

Next we've got the always lovely Bridgett Bonn-Wagner! Bridgett makes amazing jewelry using everything from silver and gold, to Gulf War trading cards. Check it out here, and at All By Hand! Bridgett is only working shifts that need picking up right now, but we hope to get her part-time soon!

New Happenings at All By Hand

Hey all! Phew, it's a new month and let's hope all this blustery, snowy weather is behind us. Come on spring! Fingers crossed.

Well the future of All By Hand is still a little up in the air, but we sure do have a lot happening here in the month of March! Check out our new St. Patty's day display. What better way to celebrate drinking green beer (ew?) and avoiding the drunken Erin Express riders, then with some great new jewelry and green gear from All By Hand.

We've also got some great new work from Danielle Taraschi. She makes all her jewelry from recycled vintage pieces. Pretty cool!

We're also hoping to get a special going on all prints for the Philagrafika print event this month! We'll give you more info on that as soon as we get it all figured out on our end.

The Future.... Part 2

Well Abby and I got some answers this week but not all of our questions have been responded too. The plus is we will at least be open in our current location for another month! We will find out more about new locations in the next couple weeks. Keep your fingers crossed for us still!

On another note though, ALL BY HAND IS HIRING! Looking for a part time job? Well we're your girls. We've already hired one great new employee, Jen McGowan, but we are in need of another. If you are available to work Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9:30-4 let me know. Those are currently the hours we need to fill. I can fill you in on more details via email. Featured Artist!

Check it out! We're going to try and run two featured artists for the next month and a half that we are in the space at Liberty Place. Here is our first featured artist!

Chris Clark!
His work is great. The particular pieces we are carrying are papers and wood panels that are collaged and screen-printed on with thread. Super cool! Here are some photos, but I recommend coming in and seeing them in person. The pictures don't really show how intricate and great the pieces are.

Boxing Day!

Hey all! Did you know today is Boxing Day? You did, well that's cause you're smart. You didn't, that's okay we still like you. How about we all learn a little about it? Yes? Man you guys are the best audience. Away we go....

Boxing day is a traditional public holiday celebrated predominately in the United Kingdom. To quote Wikipedia, "The name derives from the tradition of giving seasonal gifts, on the day after Christmas, to less wealthy people and social inferiors, which was later extended to various workpeople such as laborers and servants." Pretty cool, huh? Learn even more here!

All that being said, how about you think of your "starving" local artists? Personally, I think we most likely fall under the "various workpeople such as laborers and servants" category. (hehe) So how about coming out to All By Hand and showing your local artists some much needed Boxing day love and buying some great things for yourself! I mean really I know we all love the socks Grandma gets us every year, but now that the holiday is over I think it's time to treat ourselves. All the while helping out your fellow artists!

While we're in the Boxing day spirit, how about we all head to this great event after? Today (all day, it's already started!) in honor of Boxing day the Memphis Taproom will be collecting canned foods and gently worn coats and blankets to donate to the needy this holiday season. For every item you bring you get a dollar of your beers! Could this get any better? Wait, what's the beer list you say?

All By Hand has officially stopped excepting new art til the end of the year. We're full! Woo Hoo! Thanks to every one who helped us get in touch with all our great artists!

I guess officially it was December as of yesterday, but I figured I'd give you a day to get rent and bills out on time before claiming it CHRISTMAS SHOPPING TIME!!!! That's right friends and soon to be friends, it's time to come to All By Hand and start stocking up on those stocking stuffers, Christmas ornaments (I know your tree is up now, we're following your facebook updates...), and unique gifts for loved ones! We got it all here! Also I should note that starting Sunday we begin our Holiday hours here.

Well we've officially been open one week! Woo! Things have been going good so far, and here's to keeping our fingers crossed that as we get closer to the holidays it only gets better. All that being said, check out some MORE new art to the store.

Hey All!

Check out some new artists we put out just this week!

Jeanette Wintjen just dropped off some great recycled and leather earrings! So awesome. I like the zippers, Abby likes the leafs.

Check out Hedy Sirico amazing assemblages. These two are called "Many Sit" and "Keep all Measurements Level".

These are Jill Goodman-Ruggieri amazing earrings. I think I'll have to buy my sister 20 for Christmas. Thanks Jill!

And finally! We've got Nick Keppol. I love his type style. Come check it out!!

Coming today! is the Philadelphia Inquirer at 4pm to shoot some photos of the store. The article is about art stores that are "popping up" all over the city for the holiday season! We're pretty excited to be in the piece. Here's hoping they use the photos the shoot today! Once again I'd like to invite all graduates from UArts and Moore to the shoot. They want to have as many artists as possible. Think of the great free press for your art, and why not make Mom and Dad proud at the same time! "See Mom I put all the money you spent on my college tuition to work!" Thanks guys and hoping to see you later today!

The Inquirer is coming for an interview and to shoot photos at All By Hand on Thursday! We're so excitedddddddd. (hence the extra letters) Here's hoping the story doesn't land on the editing room floor.

To all UArts and Moore Grads involved in the store:
Come out Thursday at 4 and make your parents proud! They want to interview current students and alumni of both schools featured in the store. The piece is about 2 (totally rad, awesome, cute, and nerdy) girls both recent grads and one still a student opening an artist consignment store featuring their friends, which also happen to be recent grads and students! (aka you!) So come be famous for 15 minutes and live in the lime light. See you Thursday!

Tomorrow is our biggest day this week! Get ready for an ton of uploads. We are hanging all the wall work tomorrow, setting up the dress form, getting clothes on hangers, cleaning, cleaning, cleaning, and we have 7-10 artists coming to drop off more work! I can't wait. Here's hoping all goes well.

OH and one final thing.... Our GRAND OPENING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Abby & I are officially store owners! We're pretty excited. How about we tell you a little about our store All By Hand? Yes? Okay, here we go!

All By Hand is located at the shops at Liberty Place. We are a fine art and craft consignment store, featuring all local Philadelphia artists! We've really got some great stuff going on. Check out some of the artist's we will be featuring!
